ABC's Grey's Anatomy is poised to welcome the former Commander in Chief.
Geena Davis has boarded ABC's Grey's Anatomy and The Hollywood Reporter has the first look of the Oscar winner (The Accidental Tourist) making her rounds through Grey Sloan Memorial.
Little is known about Davis' role other than that the Thelma and Louise alum will play a surgeon and have a major recurring arc in season 11 as a surgeon at the hospital previously known as Seattle Grace.
Below, Davis' character makes her Grey's Anatomy debut in the season 11 premiere, "I Must Have Lost It On the Wind," which takes its title from Elton John's song of the same name.
Judging from the photos below, Davis' character could be connected to Callie (Sara Ramirez) and Arizona (Jessica Capshaw).
Ahead of Davis' casting, showrunner Shonda Rhimes told THR that season 11 will explore Callie and Arizona's relationship and the couple's bid to expand their family by way of surrogacy.
"It's going to be revealed very quickly that it is a Band-Aid," she said. "It's going to open up the opportunity for them to finally explore everything that's wrong and whether or not they should be together at all or whether or not they want to be together at all. Their entire relationship, by the way, has been a series of Band-Aids. It's heartbreaking and it's beautiful and it's either you choose to fix all the Band-Aids that are wrong and be together or you move on. But it's a choice of commitment and we're going to watch them explore that stuff."
Davis will join new series regular Caterina Scorsone and returning guest star Kate Burtonas Ellis Grey as part of Grey's Anatomy's 11th season, which will be the drama's first without star Sandra Oh. Her addition comes after the series also parted ways with Gaius Charles (Shane) and Tessa Ferrer (Leah).
