Amidst reports that Morgan Freeman is going to marry his 27-year-old step-grandaughter Edena Hines, the Oscar-winning actor is firing back that these claims are “defamatory fabrications.”
Freeman also makes clear that he’s not even romantically involved with Hines, the granddaughter of his first wife Jeanette Adair Bradshaw, despite reports that they’ve been dating for 10 years and plan to wed soon.
He initially chose to ignore the stories and not “dignify” them, says his rep, but he’s now responding because they’ve “been picked up by the mainstream media.”
In a statement from Freeman furnished to Gossip Cop, the actor says, “The recent reports of any pending marriage or romantic relationship of me to anyone are defamatory fabrications from the tabloid media designed to sell papers. What is even more alarming is that these fabrications are now being picked up by the legitimate press as well.”
Hines also issued a statement, saying, “These stories about me and my grandfather are not only untrue, they are also very hurtful to me and my family.”
