An official in Bangladesh has said a passenger ferry carrying hundreds of people has capsized south of the capital Dhaka, according to the Associated Press.
Samsuddoha Khondaker, the chairman of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority, said the ferry was passing along the River Padma in Munshiganj district in the centre of the country.
Local media reports suggest there may have been up to 250 people on board the boat at the time.
