Beyonce References Jay Z/Solange Elevator Brawl in “Flawless” Remix With Nicki Minaj

Though Beyonce and co. released a joint statement in May about the shocking elevator fight between Jay Z and Beyonce's younger sister Solange Knowles at a Met Gala afterparty, the pop diva has just debuted a "statement" of her own. Naturally, she acknowledged the brawl -- which was caught on the elevator's security camera -- through song.

Just before midnight on Saturday, August 2, Queen Bey and rapper Nicki Minaj released a remix of the popular female empowerment tune "Flawless." Though there are several questionable references in the new version -- like Beyonce rapping, "You wish I was your pound cake" while rumors of her marriage troubles with Jay Z swirl -- most took note of her clear mention of the now-notorious elevator brawl.

The whole ordeal began on May 5 when TMZ posted the surveillance footage of New Orleans-based DJ Solange attacking, yelling at, and kicking her brother-in-law in the Standard Hotel's elevator as Beyonce looked on. The family released a joint statement on May 15 regarding the incident.

"The most important thing is that our family has worked through it," the trio told the Associated Press. "Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They have both apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family."
