Raymond Chandler's copy of The Catcher in the Rye: $22,500

Raymond Chandler's copy of The Catcher in the Rye : $22,500

This first edition copy of America’s most beloved and censored book was owned by Raymond Chandler, the man behind The Big Sleep and over a half dozen of those old detective movies you watch late at night when you can't fall asleep. At $22,500, it's too rich for my blood. B&B Rare Books is run by Josh and Sunday in NYC, a quirky husband and wife team who always do their due diligence and make their bookshelves shine with obscurity.

25 Cats Name Sam and One Blue Pussy by Andy Warhol: Priceless

25 Cats Name Sam and One Blue Pussy by Andy Warhol: Priceless

Andy Warhol basically started the grumpy cat thing. This handcrafted book highlights illustrations in his trademark pre-pop graphic style and is almost impossible to find. Harper Levine of the iconic Harper’s Books has a priceless copy. Seriously, no price tag as of yet, so just make him an offer he can't refuse. Harper also has a sketchbook from the "fifth Beatle" -- the late British artist and original bass player for The Beatles who created the book while rooming with bandmate John Lennon. Harper posts awesome #rarebookporn through his Instagram and Twitter accounts, too.
