Disney XD Greenlights ‘Pants on Fire’ TV Movie (Exclusive)

Disney XD has greenlighted an original TV movie Pants on Fire featuring network stars, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Pants on Fire follows 15-year-old Jack Parker (Good Luck Charlie and Mighty Med's Bradley Steven Perry) who has always skated by on his lies, Jack's best friend Ryan (Diary of a Wimpy Kid's Joshua Ballard) and Mikey (Lab Rats' Tyrel Jackson Williams), a nonexistent teen who Jack makes up and claims he is tutoring to provide an excuse for chores, homework, tardiness and general mayhem. It's a seemingly great plan until one day Mikey shows up in Jack's life for real, as do all of his other lies, including his possessive girlfriend and a duo of alien body-snatchers.

Slated to premiere later this year, the TV movie will air on the male-skewing Disney XD in the U.S. (Canada will broadcast it on Disney XD and Family Channel.)

Principal photography on the MarVista Entertainment/Two 4 for the Money Media co-production begins Tuesday in Vancouver.

“We received incredible global demand for Radio Rebel, and our previous Disney Channel co-production, 16 Wishes, and we are confident that in working with Disney XD, Pants on Fire will deliver a comedic movie for tweens and teens with a unique boy-attitude spin,” says Fernando Szew, CEO of MarVista.

“It’s a great honor to extend our relationship with the Disney family to produce Pants on Fire for Disney XD,” says Kim Arnott, president of Two 4 the Money Media. “Our partnership with MarVista is invaluable to the process, both from a creative and financial perspective, and we are truly delighted to collaborate again with them on this new movie.”

Jon Rosenbaum (Mighty Med, Austin & Ally) directs from a script penned by Alex Cramer. Kim Arnott (Radio, The Haunting Hour) executive produces. Szew and Robyn Snyder, MarVista executive vp production and development, are also EPs.

Pants on Fire marks the first collaboration between MarVista and Two 4 the Money Media for Disney XD and is part of a multi-picture development deal.
