Joan Lunden revealed on Tuesday’s “Good Morning America” that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

The former “GMA” host told the news to current host Robin Roberts, who is also a breast cancer survivor.

“I have covered many stories about breast cancer over the years, but I never actually thought this would happen to me,” Lunden noted in a statement she also posted to Twitter and Facebook. “I have shaped my career around health & wellness advocacy so it seemed natural to share my story.”

She added, “I’ve started chemotherapy, and while I don’t know how I’ll look and feel down the road, I am assuming the best because that is how I live my life.”

Lunden is expected to make a full recovery after undergoing a series of treatments including a lumpectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation.

Gossip Cop wishes Lunden a speedy recovery.
