The Sixth Sense actor, 26, who shot to fame at the age of 11 for his role in the Oscar nominated thriller, donated his time to pal Landis, to be part of a video experiment inspired by The Kiss (a video of beautiful people kissing each other which went viral back in March).

Turning the subject matter on its head, Landis got a large group of his friends together, which included celebrities Jessica Stroup, Liz Gillies, Hannah Marks and Matt Bennett and paired them up with people they'd never met before.

After being introduced, each part of the pair then had to slap the other in the face.

Filmmaker Landis insists the strangely compelling video isn't supposed to be offensive. "The theory I had was that violence minus aggression is intimacy,” he explained in an accompanying video. “It's the idea of trusting someone to hit you and it being a social interaction. A slap, mitigated by permission, is a hug."
