Seth Rogen is blasting an outlet for falsely quoting him after being duped by a parody Twitter account.
On Saturday, the site NewsBusters took Rogen to task for allegedly being hypocritical in his recent slam of Ann Hornaday, the journalist who linked his movies to last week’s killing spree in California.
NewsBusters tries to trap Rogen by pointing out that he was complaining about Hornaday’s unfair treatment after allegedly comparing Mitt Romney to the Ku Klux Klan in 2012.
At the time, some outlets misquoted Romney, mistakenly charging him with using an old KKK slogan (“Keep America American”) in his presidential campaign speeches.
Back then, the @Real_Seth Twitter account wrote, “that awkward moment when you realize Mitt Romney’s Slogan, ‘Keep America American’ was the same slogan used by the KKK in 1922.”
NewsBusters used the tweet to slam Rogen on Saturday for having the audacity to complain about “horribly insulting and misinformed” media comparisons with Hornaday when he himself had (allegedly) done the same thing with Romney.
There’s just one problem.
@Real_Seth is a fake account.
And the real Rogen delighted in pointing out the huge NewsBusters gaffe.
Oops.
