Maleficent is heading toward a big debut, with early estimates putting the Angelina Jolie fairy tale at $67 million in its opening weekend.
That would easily grab the box office crown from last week’s champ, X-Men: Days of Future Past, which is expected to finish in second place with about $30 million.
A Million Ways to Die in the West, the Seth MacFarlane western comedy, should open in the #3 spot with $19 million or so.
Godzilla ($10 million) should stay ahead of Blended and Neighbors, which are projected to hit roughly $8 million apiece.
Seventh place will be a close race between Million Dollar Arm and The Amazing Spider-Man 2, each heading towed $3.5 million, while Chef and The Other Woman are expected to battle for #9 at approximately $1.5 million apiece.
