Bret Michaels was rushed off the stage during a concert in Manchester, New Hampshire on Thursday because of a medical emergency.

The rocker had only performed three songs before he required assistance for low blood sugar.

His longtime friend and guitarist Pete Evick said in a statement, “I’ve never seen a look like the one on his face as if I was a complete stranger,” adding, “He basically had to be dragged off the stage in his sickest of conditions.”

“When I rushed to the bus he could barely speak,” said Evick, noting Michaels “begged me to apologize to the fans and seemed only concerned for them.”

Michaels has had Type 1 diabetes since he was a child.

The singer’s team later tweeted, “Sending a shout out 2 all the paramedics both on & off duty who assisted Bret tonight. No words can thank you enough for ur help.”

In the past, Michaels has required heart surgery and suffered a brain hemorrhage.
