TV Ratings: Memorial Day Deflates ‘MasterChef’ Premiere, ‘The Bachelorette’

With plenty of original options on broadcast TV on Monday night, including the season premieres of American Ninja Warrior and MasterChef, a lot of viewers still opted to spend their Memorial Day evenings elsewhere. The night saw ratings drops across the board.

Fox managed to top its first Monday night among adults 18-49 in quite some time, averaging a 1.5 rating, and kicked off the night with MasterChef (1.4 adults). The series lost 33 percent from its non-holiday debut (2.1 adults) last summer. As for 24: Live Another Day (1.5 adults), the night's lone drama was down two-tenths but still tied American Ninja Warrior to top all Big Four fare.

The Bachelorette (1.4 adults) clocked a series low on ABC, falling half a point from last week's more hospitable premiere evening. ABC, shy of Fox in the demo, took the night in total viewers with 5.3 million.

American Ninja Warrior (1.5 adults) was also down from its last premiere on NBC -- though only by two-tenths of a point. And on CBS, the Friends With Better Lives (1.4 adults) burn-off continued with a two-tenths drop as well.
