Following a whirlwind of series orders and renewals, ABC seems to have begun spreading the bad news. First up: Critical darling Trophy Wife, which has been canceled after one season.

From ABC Studios, the critical darling starring Malin Akerman, Bradley Whitford and Marcia Gay Harden has a dedicated fan base that helps the single-camera family comedy surge 50 percent in seven days of DVR to grow from a 1.2 to a 1.7 in the key demo.
Both numbers are down from fellow bubble comedy Mixology. Working against its case for a second-season renewal was the pricey cast, with Akerman turning down multiple pilot offers this past season. Also likely hurting its chances was the fact that ABC developed multiple family comedies this past season, with most offering a unique twist on the traditional family -- a la Trophy Wife.

Harden announced the news on Twitter late Thursday: "Thank u 4 watching beloved fans. Parting is such sweet sorrow... @TrophyWifeABCcancelled just hours ago. @ABC_Publicity
ABC declined comment. Additional renewals, series orders and cancellations are set to come Friday.
