Heather Graham opened up about her issues with Hollywood in a recent Esquire interview, sharing her thoughts about the entertainment industry’s treatment of women.

According to the actress, who has had sex-themed roles on projects like The Hangover and an upcoming stint on “Californication,” the movie business is “totally sexist.”

“If you look at all the movies being made these days, eighty percent of them are about men,” she explains.

As for whether or not this sexism bothers her, Graham says, “There’s not much I can do about it. It’s a sexist world and a sexist industry. But I’ve been very lucky as an actress to work as much as I have and as consisently as I have.”

Graham also wants to give herself the kind of role that Hollywood hasn’t by directing a script that she has written.

Of the gap that her movie aims to fill, she says, “I don’t see anything in film about women who want to have sex. I don’t see myself and my friends represented.”

Graham also shares some thoughts about female sexuality, which she considers “more mysterious” than male sexuality.

She explains, “To be honest, in this society, women are really nurturing, and we’re brought up to take care of other people. So we sometimes forget to ask ‘What feels good to me?’ or ‘What do I want?’”

The actress continues, “But what actually gets a woman off? I think it’s worth exploring. I’m sure men really want to know.”
