TV Ratings: ‘Scandal’ Drops to Season Low, ‘Millers’ Gets ‘Big’ Boost

CBS had a healthy edge over the competition for Thursday primetime.

The Big Bang Theory (17.4 million, 4.8) continued its dominance for the evening as the night's most-watched and highest-rated broadcast program across broadcast, though slipping slightly to match a season low. Big Bang Theory helped boost The Millers (11.3 million, 2.9), already renewed for a sophomore season, a dramatic 21 percent in the advertiser-coveted 18-49. Two and a Half Men (9.4 million, 2.5) and The Crazy Ones (6.5 million, 1.8) both saw small jumps as well, while lead-out Elementary dipped 6 percent. CBS was first among viewers (10 million) and in 18-49 (2.5) in primetime.

If ABC was hoping there would be an improvement in viewership to the series finale of Once Upon a Time in Wonderland (3.2 million, 0.9), that simply wasn't the case. The Once Upon a Time spinoff, originally meant to serve as a bridge between the mothership's half-seasons, failed to make a dent for its final hour, dropping 10 percent from its penultimate. Grey's Anatomy (8 million, 2.6) was steady, while Scandal (8.8 million, 2.8) matched a low. ABC placed second on the evening, averaging 6.7 million and a 2.1 rating.

Fox's lineup was down across the board, though the network indicates that some of its programs were pre-empted in several markets during the 9 p.m. hour due to local weather coverage. In any case, Hell's Kitchen (4.9 million, 1.7), American Idol (7.7 million, 1.8) and Surviving Jack (4.5 million, 1.2) all had down notes, according to preliminary numbers. Fox placed third on the evening with a 5.5 million and 1.6 average.

NBC's Community (2.6 million, 0.9) hit a series low, down 18 percent from its last original in late March. Parks and Recreation (2.7 million, 1.1) had the same fate, slipping 8 percent. Hollywood Game Night (3.1 million, 1.1) was the only bright spot in NBC's Thursday lineup, improving double-digits in its hiatus return. Parenthood dropped to 3.7 million and a 1.2. NBC was a distant fourth, averaging 3.2 million and a 1.1.

The CW, averaging 866,000 viewers and a 0.3, aired reruns of The Vampire Diaries and Reign.
