Chris Brown is being transported by federal marshals from California to Washington, D.C. to stand trial for assault.

According to TMZ, the performer was picked up from jail on Thursday and began his cross-country journey — which may not end until the weekend.

The outlet reports that Brown’s trip will likely require multiple stops as U.S. Marshals pick up additional prisoners.

Brown is slated to be in Washington on Monday for a hearing in the case tied to his alleged beating of a man outside the W Hotel last October.

Until Thursday, he was being held behind bars in California after being thrown out of court-mandated rehab treatment.
