Nigella Lawson was recently denied permission to board a flight to the United States, possibly due to her admission of cocaine use during court proceedings last year.
On Sunday, the celebrity cooking personality was barred from traveling from London to Los Angeles.
The U.S. Embassy has confirmed Lawson was stopped and told to apply for a visa, although it has not officially commented on the reason.
Lawson’s American projects include an involvement on the television series “The Taste,” and she has traveled to the country since the court appearance that led to her cocaine revelation.
Authorities can bar would-be passengers from boarding an international flight to the United States for a variety of reasons, including drug use.
A rep for Lawson would not comment.
In a statement, the U.S. Embassy said, “There are several ways of legally travelling into the United States and Ms. Lawson has been invited to come to the embassy and apply for a visa for travel to the U.S. We understand she has professional requirements for U.S. travel and these matters are generally handled routinely and expeditiously, so stand by.”
