TV Ratings: ‘Modern Family,’ With Minor Boost, Wins Wednesday

American Idol propelled Fox to a nightly win in both adults 18-49 and total viewers on Wednesday, though the 2.1 demo rating (off a tenth) marked a series low showing for the night. Fox took 9.2 million viewers during its two-hour primetime block.

The Middle (1.9 adults) dropped a tenth of a point on ABC, while Suburgatory (1.4 adults) dropped two-tenths to tie a series low. Modern Family, one of the night's few series to improve from its most recent showing, was up a tenth of a point for a 3.5 rating with adults 18-49. The original lead-in helped Mixology (1.7 adults) recover half of a point from last week, and Nashville (1.3 adults) dropped a tenth to tie a low as well.

ABC averaged a 1.8 rating with adults under 50 and 6.1 million viewers for the night.

Survivor, CBS' lone original for the night, dropped two-tenths of a point from last week for a 2.3 rating in the demo. CBS took a 1.7 rating with adults 18-49 and 8.2 million viewers for the night.

With originals in repeats as well, NBC aired the special Prince Harry's South Pole Heroes to the tune of a 0.8 rating in the key demo. The network averaged the same number for the night, also pulling in 3.4 million viewers.

Arrow (0.9 adults) joined Modern Family in growing last night, up a tenth of a point, while The 100 (0.7 adults) shed two-tenths of a point from last week's premiere. The CW took a 0.8 rating with adults 18-49 and 2.4 million viewers.
