During a recent break from taping her ABC series, Oz -- who welcomed her baby daughter, named Philomena Bijou, on Feb. 26 -- showed Us Weekly just how to whip up her healthy Nutty Banana-Cherry-Spinach drink. First off, Oz understands that some may be turned off by adding spinach to their everyday menu, but the natural foods expert explains that in her recipe, those who sip won't even taste the greens.
Daphne Oz, of ABC's The Chew, shares her recipe for a Nutty Banana-Cherry-Spinach smoothie — and offers healthy ideas to add flavor to any dish — in this exclusive Us Weekly video.
In her smoothie, like with other dishes she prepares, the busy mom always tries to add a hint of citrus -- lime juice is a favorite -- along with Greek yogurt for tang. "Tang really wakes up your tongue," says Oz.
When preparing side dishes to accompany larger meals, Oz suggests incorporating avocado, grated cheese or hummus. "Fat carries flavor, so the more you can add a dose of these fats in your foods, the more you'll be able to taste all of the other great flavors in your food," she tells Us.
