Sam Worthington and a paparazzo were both arrested in New York City on Sunday after a physical altercation.
The incident began when the Avatar star’s girlfriend Lara Bingle was allegedly kicked by the photographer as they exited a Greenwich Village bar.
Worthington reportedly responded by punching the photog, Li Shang, in the face.
The actor was taken into custody for assault, and later released with a desk appearance ticket for a future court date.
Shang was reportedly booked for endangerment, assault and harassment, and remains behind bars for now.
Reps for Worthington did not immediately reply to a request for comment.
The movie star was previously arrested in 2012 for disorderly conduct after an alleged drunken bar fight.
