LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Ice Cube is set to hit theaters this week in “Ride Along,” with Kevin Hart, and soon a movie about his rise to stardom will come to the big screen.

The 44-year-old rapper-turned-actor stopped by Access Hollywood Live on Tuesday where he discussed the planned upcoming N.W.A. biopic, “Straight Outta Compton.”

“We’re actually going to put together an N.W.As movie to show the whole [story,]” he said of the iconic rap group, which also included Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, DJ Yella and MC Ren.

And all of the various N.W.A. parties appear to be onboard with the project.

But Cube won’t be playing the young Cube in the biopic.

“Somebody is going to play us,” he said.

One aspect of his life which could be included is how the rapper, whose real name is O’Shea Jackson, got his nickname.

“My brother, he named me Ice Cube. He kind of was clowning me though because I used to think I was too cool for school, too cool for the room, and he was like, ‘Man you not too cool. You not cool like that man. You that cool, I’m gonna put you in the freezer, call you Ice Cube,’” he explained. “I went outside that day and that was my new nickname.”

“Ride Along” hits theaters on January 17.
