LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Bad news for fans of X-Men’s Rogue – she won’t be seen in the upcoming “Days of Future Past.”
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, director Bryan Singer revealed he chose to cut a “rescue” scene from the mutant movie – which happened to the be only scene including Rogue (played by Anna Paquin).
“Through the editing process, the sequence became extraneous,” Bryan told EW. “It’s a really good sequence and it will probably end up on the DVD so people can see it. But like many things in the editing process, it was an embarrassment of riches and it was just one of the things that had to go.

“Unfortunately, it was the one and only sequence Anna Paquin was in, the Rogue character was in,” he continued. “Even though she’s in the materials and part of the process of making the film, she won’t appear in it.”
The director said his decision to cut the scene was in no way a reflection of his relationship with the “True Blood” star, nor her performance.

“She did a fantastic job,” he said. “She was awesome in the sequence. She’s a brilliant actress. I would work with her in a heartbeat.”
Bryan said he has already broken the bad news to Anna, and that she took it in stride. “She completely understood,” he said “It’s very disappointing, but she’s very professional and she knows that stuff happens, particularly with material you shoot early on in production. Films evolve.”
“X-Men: Days of Future Past” will hit theaters on May 23, 2014
