LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Jennifer Lawrence is not a fan of weight-shaming.

In fact, the Oscar-winning actress wants calling people fat outlawed!

“It should be illegal,” the “American Hustle” star told Barbara Walters in an interview for upcoming Walters’ “10 Most Fascinating People of 2013” TV special. “I just think it should be illegal to call somebody fat on TV.”

The 23-year-old actress, who stars as Katniss Everdeen in “The Hunger Games” movies, has received flak in the past for her frame and says the media should be more careful with their words.

“The media needs to take responsibility for the effect that it has on our younger generation, on these girls who are watching these television shows, and picking up how to talk and how to be cool,” she said.

Adding, “I mean, if we’re regulating cigarettes and sex and cuss words, because of the effect they have on our younger generation, why aren’t we regulating things like calling people fat?”

“Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2013” will air Wednesday at 9:30 PM on ABC.
