TV Ratings: NBC’s Tree Lighting Lifts, ‘Survivor’ Surges

NBC celebrated the holidays in its front yard on Wednesday night, airing its annual Christmas in Rockefeller Center. The special improved 10 percent from last year, averaging a 2.3 rating among adults 18-49. Saturday Night Live's Christmas clip show (2.6 adults) improved on its live lead-in. The network averaged a 2.5 adults rating and 8.2 million viewers, though premptions in Portland could see those numbers adjusted.

Survivor had the edge at 8 p.m. The CBS competition jumped four-tenths of a point for a 2.6 rating among adults 18-49 and hit a season high with 10.6 million viewers. Encores followed, giving the network a nightly average of a 1.9 rating with adults 18-49 and 8.9 million viewers.

On ABC, all comedies hit season lows -- with The Middle (1.9 adults) dropping four-tenths, Back in the Game (1.4 adults) down two-tenths and Modern Family (3.1 adults) down three-tenths. Super Fun Night (1.7 adults) was only off a tenth, and Nashville (1.6 adults) held its most recent score. ABC took a 1.9 adults rating and 6.4 million viewers for the night.

The X Factor improved on Fox, growing two-tenths of a point for a 1.4 adults rating and an average 5.3 million viewers.

Over on the CW, Arrow hit a season high in viewers (3.2 million) and improved by a tenth in adults 18-49 to a 1.1 adults rating. The episode introduced the character currently eyed for the potential Flash spinoff. The Tomorrow People (0.7 adults) also improved by a tenth, giving the network a 0.9 rating for the night and 2.5 million viewers.
