Doctors discovered a clot in Lindsey's placenta 3 1/2 months before Ward's due date and decided that the baby needed to come out. He was born on July 16, 2012 at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio and immediately taken to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
