A former member of Iranian-American rock band The Yellow Dogs went on a killing spree early Monday morning, shooting three of his bandmates before taking his own life with a military-style rifle.
An Iranian man identified by police as Raefe Akhbar murdered three of his four bandmates in the indie-rock group The Yellow Dogs early Monday morning in their Bushwick, Brooklyn, apartment before turning the gun on himself and taking his own life.
Akhbar had reportedly grown enraged after being kicked out of the band a year ago for possibly stealing money and selling the group's equipment.
The killing spree took place at 318 Maujer St. in an industrial-style residential building the band lived and practiced in, according to their Facebook page.
The confirmed dead include 27-year-old guitarist Soroush Farazmand, who was found face-up in a second-floor bedroom with a gunshot wound to chest; the band’s 35-year-old singer Ali Eskandarian and drummer Arash Farazmand were both found with gunshot wounds to the head. Band member Sasan Sadeghpouroskou, 22, was also shot twice in the right arm and elbow.
