TV Ratings: World Series Final Gives Fox a Wednesday Best

The sixth and final game of the 2013 World Series predictably surged on Fox, giving the network the highest-rated Wednesday of the year -- and the most-watched Wednesday since last September.

Though Fast National returns will see upward adjustments, the Red Sox history-making hometown victory is averaging a 5.4 rating among adults 18-49 and 18 million viewers. It marks a 42 percent improvement from Monday's returns.

The two most recent World Series only made it to Game Five, and 2011's Game Six final drew 21 million viewers in finals.

Among the other networks, CBS scored a distant third place with an average 2.2 rating with adults 18-49 and 9.7 million viewers. Survivor (2.3 adults) was down a tenth of a point for a series low, while Criminal Minds (2.4 adults) and CSI (1.8 adults) also tied lows in falling three-tenths of a point each.

The Middle (2.1 adults) shed a tenth of a point while Back in the Game (1.7) was even on ABC. Modern Family was a repeat, bringing lead-out Super Fun Night (1.8 adults) down three-tenths of a point. Nashville (1.4 adults), off two-tenths, was also at a low. ABC averaged a 1.8 rating with adults 18-49 and 6.3 million viewers.

Revolution (1.4 adults) tied last week's episode on NBC, while Law & Order: SVU offered a two-hour repeat. The network averaged a 1.2 in the demo and 4.4 million viewers.

Arrow (0.7 adults) fell two-tenths of a point on the CW, while The Tomorrow People (0.6 adults) was off by a tenth. The network averaged a 0.6 rating with adults 18-49 and 2 million viewers.
