Chris Browns assault charge from his fight with a man in Washington, D.C. on Sunday morning has been reduced from a felony to a misdemeanor.

The singer was released from jail without bail on Monday after pleading not guilty to the assault charge.

Brown’s bodyguard’s charge was also reduced to a misdemeanor.

TMZ says the charges were reduced because the victim’s injuries were minor, and there were conflicting accounts as to what happened.

It’s a big break for Brown, who is still on probation from assaulting Rihanna in 2009.

As Gossip Cop previously reported, Brown got into a physical altercation with a man outside the W Hotel on Sunday, and was taken into custody for assault.
