Quincy Jones is suing Michael Jackson’s estate, claiming he’s owed millions of dollars in royalties and production fees.

The music mogul filed the lawsuit on Friday, seeking approximately $10 million from the late performer’s estate and Sony Music.

Jones — who worked on Jackson’s massively successful albums Off The Wall, Thriller and Bad –contends that the estate and Sony improperly re-edited some of Jackson’s hit songs for use in the movie This Is It and in two Cirque du Soleil shows in order to cut out the music industry legend.

Songs including “Billie Jean” and “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough” are among the tracks Jones says were re-edited without his participation or consent, which he says he was contractually owed.

Jones also alleges that he should have been labeled a producer on the music that was included in This Is It.

In response, Jackson’s estate stated, “To the best of its knowledge, Mr. Jones has been appropriately compensated over approximately 35 years for his work with Michael.”
