TNT Orders New Dwayne Johnson-Hosted Reality Series

TNT is back in business with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

After one season of The Hero, the cable network has greenlighted a new eight-episode unscripted series for Johnson to host and executive produce.

Premiering in 2014, Wake Up Call (working title) follows everyday people who are facing challenges in their lives. From dysfunctional homes and dead-beat dads to sports teams that don't gel and businesses struggling to survive, Johnson will help turn them into success stories.

"We had a wonderful time working with Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson on The Hero, in which he challenged and mentored a group of everyday heroes," said David Eilenberg, senior vp unscripted development for TNT and TBS. "Wake Up Call evolved from our experience on The Hero and is its natural successor, bringing the human spirit of that show home to take on everyday challenges. In this new series, Dwayne will bring his mission of empowerment and change right to people's front doors."

Wake Up Call hails from Electus, 5x5 Media and 7 Bucks Entertainment. Executive producers are Ben Silverman, Chris Grant, Jimmy Fox, Craig Armstrong, Rick Ringbakk, Charles Wachter, Johnson and Dany Garcia.

The Hero, a competition series that aired this past summer, wrapped its eight-episode run with 1 million viewers in August.

The series comes as TNT continues to bulk up its unscripted slate, which already includes Dick Wolf's Cold Justice, Boston's Finest and Mark Burnett's On the Menu.
