Lady Gaga will usher in the holiday season with The Muppets.
“Lady Gaga & the Muppets’ Holiday Spectacular” will air on ABC on November 28, the night of Thanksgiving, it was announced on Thursday.
Gaga and her felt friends will be joined by some big-named guest stars, including Elton John, Kristen Bell, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and RuPaul.
“I was so excited when ABC called me about doing a holiday special this year. I knew it just wouldn’t be a complete night of laughter and memories without the Muppets,” the singer said in a statement.
Added Kermit, “What an incredible opportunity! We have a long history with Ms. Gaga, so we jumped at the chance to do a holiday special with her. We won’t even mind if she mistakes some of the Muppets for pieces of her wardrobe — again.”
According to ABC, the special will offer an “avant-garde twist on the classic holiday variety show as Lady Gaga goes backstage with The Muppets, making a performance dream come true for the multi-platinum singer songwriter when they combine forces to sing holiday favorites and Lady Gaga hits.”
Gaga, who will perform tracks from her new ARTPOP album, infamously took Kermit as her date to the 2009 VMAs, and has incorporated the classic characters into both her wardrobe and concert tours.
She also hosted “A Very Gaga Thanksgiving” on the network in 2011.
