Emily Kapnek
ABC is expanding its relationship with Emily Kapnek.
The network has given a put pilot commitment to Selfie, a comedy inspired by My Fair Lady from the Suburgatory creator, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Selfie is inspired by the classic musical about a flower girl who takes speech lessons in order to pass as a "well-born" lady. Kapnek's modern update will tell the story of a self-obsessed 20-something woman who is more concerned with "likes" than being liked. After suffering a public and humiliating breakup, she becomes the subject of a viral video and suddenly has more social media "followers" than she ever imagined -- but for all the wrong reasons. She enlists the help of a marketing expert at her company to help repair her tarnished image.
The single-camera comedy marks the first project Kapnek has gone out with since Suburgatory, whose upcoming third season will likely bow midseason on ABC. Kapnek will pen the script and executive produce via her Warner Bros. Television-based Piece of Pie Productions banner.
Kapnek (Hung, Parks and Recreation) is repped by UTA and Jamie Mandelbaum.
ABC renewed Suburgatory for a third season in May.
