The xx sang “I Dare You” on this week’s “SNL.” The song is off the band’s upcoming third album I See You, which is set for release on January 13, 2017. See the video below of The xx’s performance of “I Dare You” on “Saturday Night Live.”
As Gossip Cop noted, this is The xx’s first time as the musical guest on “SNL.” It’s also the first time the band has ever publicly performed “I Dare You” on TV. They first performed “On Hold” earlier in the show.
The xx is a British band that was started by Romy Madley Croft and Oliver Sim, who were friends since nursery and decided to make music together when they were in high school in 2005. They were joined a year later by another classmate Jamie Smith. While Sim and Croft, who both provide vocals, have been close since toddlers, they have never been romatically involved, as both are openly gay.
I See You is the band’s first album since it released Coexist in 2012. While there were some negative reviews, for the most part that record received praise from the critics. It also debuted at the number five spot on the Billboard 200 chart.
As Gossip Cop previously mentioned, following “Saturday Night Live,” The xx will embark on a European and Latin America tour in support of their new album. To see The xx’s performance of “I Dare You” on “SNL,” watch the video below or click here.
