Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban are not going on a retreat to save their marriage, despite reports. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk the stories. We’ve learned they have no merit.
Picking up the claims from Women’s Day, The Sun announces in a headline on Monday, “ARE THEY KID-DING THEMSELVES? Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban ‘check into £8,000 couples’ retreat’ as they try to save ten-year marriage.” It says in the accompanying article, “Nicole and husband Keith Urban’s marriage is thought to be on the rocks — but they’re not giving up without an expensive fight. The couple, who have been married for ten years, are said to be at ‘make or break point’ and doing everything they can to salvage their relationship.”
“The Moulin Rouge star and her singer husband — who often put on loved-up displays on the red carpet — are thought to be spending £8,000 [or $10,000] for help and marriage guidance at a couples’ retreat,” alleges the British tabloid. An “insider” from the original Australian article is then quoted as saying, “Nicole and Keith have been battling problems for a long time now and it’s gotten to the point where it’s make or break.”
“Nicole has told friends they’re giving their marriage three months and have decided to go their separate ways and consciously uncouple if they can’t work through their problems,” claims the supposed source. The Sun goes on to note, “The pricey bootcamp, which starts at £8,000 for a weekend talking about emotions with a psychologist, tries to help couples by talking through their differences.”
But the newspaper picked up these allegations from a fellow tabloid without bothering to fact-check them first. Gossip Cop, however, spoke with a rep for Kidman, who scoffed at the claims. She and Urban are not partaking in any kind of retreat to save their relationship. The spokesperson also laughed off the speculation that the couple is having marital problems.
