Laurie Hernandez and Val Chmerkovskiy performed a perfect fusion dance of a foxtrot and Argentine tango during the “Dancing With The Stars” finale on Tuesday. Watch the “DWTS” video below.
During the first part of “Dancing With The Stars” finals on Monday, Hernandez danced one near flawless routine followed by a second perfect performance. The Olympic gold medalist’s first dance was a paso doble that prompted Len Goodman to declare, “There was nothing in that dance I didn’t like.” Meanwhile, Julianne Hough commented on how much she’s enjoyed watching the teen’s “growth” throughout the competition. And Carried Ann Inaba praised Hernandez for being “the most determined soul I’ve ever met.”
While that dance only earned Hernandez 38 out of 40 points, her second routine resulted in the Olympian and Chmerkovskiy nabbing four 10s from the judges. Bruno Toniolo called her freestyle dance “fantastic” and “joyful.” “You brought tears to my eyes,” added Inaba. Of course that performance was just one of a half-dozen in which Hernandez scored perfectly this past season.
And for her final dance on “Dancing With The Stars,” Goodman said, “A fabulous dance to close a fabulous season.” Inaba felt, “This was by far for me your best dance ever.” Hough gushed, “That was unbelievable.” And Tonioli expressed, “You really are a fantastic dancer… and performer.” For her effort, Hernandez received a perfect 40 out of 40 points.
