The final season of the HBO series is set to premiere on Feb. 12.
Fans finally have their first extended preview for the final season of Girls.
In a 40-second teaser that HBO released on Tuesday, Hannah Horvath (Lena Dunham) and Co. are seen trying to finally get it right.
The teaser opens with Hannah sitting on a stoop as Marnie (Allison Williams) and ex-husband/current bandmate Desi (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) drive up to give her a lift. Co-showrunner Jenni Konner told The Hollywood Reporter after the fifth season finale that while Desi and Marnie are no longer together romantically, he'll continue to be part of her life professionally, "like the White Stripes."
After that fans are treated to quick shots of Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) and Elijah (Andrew Rannells), with Shosh saying she's "kind of freaking out," Adam (Adam Driver) and Jessa (Jemima Kirke) and Ray (Alex Karpovsky).
At the end, Hannah and Elijah are talking and she says, "I haven't made my mark on this city yet" to which Elijah responds, "You've made so many wonderful friendships."
They both laugh and Elijah says, "That's not a thing."
Dunham, Konner, Williams and other members of the Girls cast and crew documented the end of filming over the summer, obsessively chronicling their final, tear-filled night of shooting, in particular.
Last month, ahead of a New York Television Festival panel, HBO vp originals Kathleen McCaffrey, who's seen early cuts of the sixth season and worked on the show from the star, said the ending was "satisfying" and thought-provoking.
"In my time now as an executive, I've seen a few shows end, and I'd say that the biggest thing that stands out about this season is that they found, and I knew this was coming, they found a beautiful way to close the story that feels both satisfying and I think leaves it open for the possibility for all of us to wonder what happens to each of them," McCaffrey told THR. "I think it's really well done, well-constructed and beautifully told."
Konner, meanwhile, told THR after season five, as Girls had its first table read for its sixth season, not to expect a definitive ending for the main characters.
"I think we'll probably stop them mid-flow," she said. "I think the ending isn't going to feel like a wrap-up exactly."
Girls' sixth and final season premieres on Feb. 12 at 10 p.m. on HBO.
