The FBI has closed its investigation of Brad Pitt, stemming from a flight that took place in mid-September between the actor and his oldest child, Maddox, Gossip Cop can confirm. Much like the investigation by the Los Angeles County’s Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), the FBI has found nothing to warrant more action. An FBI spokesperson said in a statement, “The FBI has conducted a review of the circumstances and will not pursue further investigation. No charges have been filed in this matter.”

As Gossip Cop previously reported, Pitt was under investigation for an incident involving him and Maddox on a private jet on September 14. The altercation on the flight with his son and now-estranged wife Angelina Jolie prompted an anonymous call to be made to DCFS and an investigation by the FBI. Two weeks ago, DCFS concluded that while Pitt may have gotten unintentionally physical with the 15-year-old during a heated argument, it did not feel the actor abused his son on the jet. Pitt denied the abuse right from the start.

Much like the DCFS’s findings, the FBI felt Pitt shouldn’t be charged with any crime. The latest exoneration of Pitt, of course, should help his custody battle with Jolie. As Gossip Cop previously noted, Jolie initially filed for divorce and sole physical and legal custody of Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne, but Pitt responded earlier in November, seeking joint custody. Gossip Cop has reached out to a rep for Jolie for comment about the FBI closing its investigation into Pitt.
