Calvin Johnson and his partner Lindsay Arnold performed a fusion dance of jive and quickstep during the “Dancing With The Stars” finale on Tuesday, and were perfect. Watch the “DWTS” video below.
While Johnson nailed his freestyle dance during the first part of the finals on Monday, his first routine, a Viennese waltz, was the lowest scored performance of the remaining competitors, putting him in the least enviable position going into the finale. For his redemption dance, Johnson received 35 out of 40 points. Still, Len Goodman praised him for being “the most improved dancer.” And while it was not how Johnson wanted to kick off the finals, Carrie Ann Inaba offered, “I saw tremendous improvement.”
As Gossip Cop noted, Johnson came back with a perfect freestyle for his second dance. Not only did the judges love his routine, but the audience was also ecstatic about it. Before being told he got 40 out of 40 points, Bruno Tonioli expressed how much he enjoyed the performance. “Tonight you proved you can dance,” exclaimed Goodman. Also, Julianne Hough said she “absolutely loved it,” while Inaba called his performance “amazing.”
For Johnson’s very last dance on Tuedsay’s “Dancing With The Stars” finale, Goodman said, “It was a joy to watch you.” Hough added, “That was the perfect fusion dance.” Inaba felt, “You just make the world a better place when you dance.” And Tonioli expressed that he enjoyed the “charm.” Johnson and Arnold’s fusion dance received 40 out of 40 points.
