Anne Hathaway and Cate Blanchett are not in a feud on the Ocean’s Eight set, despite a seemingly made-up report. Gossip Cop can help set the record straight.
While the movie is shooting in New York City, the Australian outlet Women’s Day is purporting to know all about what’s going on behind-the-scenes of the U.S.-based production. The tabloid alleges Hathaway and Blanchett have been “butting heads” amid a personality clash.
“Cate’s very laid back and easygoing, but Anne’s rubbing her the wrong way. They had a few angry words and didn’t speak for a few days,” a supposed source told the magazine. “Now they’re trying to keep things cordial… but it’s difficult to say the least.”
The article goes on to assert that Hathaway is having issues with other cast members, too. Publications like the Daily Mail and Yahoo! Movies UK have since regurgitated the claims. But the allegations are entirely inaccurate.
A rep for Hathaway tells Gossip Cop, “The story is fabricated. Everyone is having a blast on this film.” We’ve previously corrected an also untrue feud report Hathaway and Julia Roberts. Coincidentally, Roberts starred in Ocean’s 11 and Ocean’s 12. She did not appear in Ocean’s 13, and is not expected to have a role in the new film.
