The upcoming dramedy is the cabler's third scripted series.
Uma Thurman is returning to TV.
The Golden Globe winner is set for a multi-episode arc on Bravo's forthcoming series My So Called Wife (working title), The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Ordered to series in March, the dark comedy centers on Maddie (Gang Related's Inbar Lavi), a master-of-disguise con artist who gets men and women to fall in love with her, marries them and then disappears with their money and just enough dirty inside information to guarantee they will never go to the police. But things get complicated when her latest victims, Ezra (Rob Heaps) and Richard (Enlisted's Parker Young), track her down just as she eyes her next mark, Patrick (Being Mary Jane's Stephen Bishop).
Thurman will play a fixed named Lenny Cohen. When the reclusive ring-leader of a group of con artists needs to keep his employees in line, eliminate an enemy, or whip up a world class omelette, there is only one person for the job - the lethal, articulate and mysterious Lenny Cohen.
My So Called Wife hails from Definitely, Maybe writer-director Adam Brooks and Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce star Paul Adelstein, who will exec produce. Universal Cable Productions will produce the series, which went into production in August for a 2017 debut.
“Uma and I have been friends for a very long time - I’m thrilled that after many tries we’ll finally get to work together,” Brooks said in a statement. “Paul Adelstein and I wrote the role of Lenny Cohen specifically for her, and we are so excited to see how Uma's iconic and very special talents will bring to life this unique and provocative character.”
This marks Thurman's third TV gig in recent years. She appeared in a multi-episode arc on Smash, for which she earned an Emmy nomination, and starred in the NBC limited series The Slap. The actress, who is best known for her roles in Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill, is repped by CAA, Untitled Entertainment and Schreck Rose.
