Taylor Swift was not “somber” after Calvin Harris released his new song “My Way,” despite a purely speculative story. Gossip Cop can bust the sensational report.

The silly claim comes from Star, which blares on its website on Friday, “Taylor Swift Caught Looking Somber After Ex Calvin Harris Releases New Breakup Song!” In the accompanying photo gallery, it’s said, “Calvin Harris isn’t letting go of the way ex Taylor Swift treated him any time soon. His new song ‘My Way’ is definitely about a past relationship!”

“The DJ told iHeartRadio that, ‘[The] song’s kind of about breaking out of a situation that you thought was a good thing. Then, you’re way more comfortable out of it,'” says the tabloid, which adds, “Social media is convinced that the song is a direct diss to Taylor.” But how was Swift “caught looking somber” in response to the track?

Well, paparazzi staked out her New York City apartment, as they always do, and snapped her picture as she walked to a waiting car. Nothing about Swift’s appearance indicated she was “somber.” And she was actually joined by her mother, a detail Star fails to mention.

In other words, the outlet bought photos of Swift going about her daily business, but they just so happened to be taken after the release of Harris’ song, so the tabloid guessed her mood. After all, that headline makes for pretty good clickbait. But guessing and clickbait aren’t journalism.

Swift wasn’t “caught looking somber” because Harris released a song that may or not be about her. Paparazzi took her picture as she walked to her car with her mom. That’s literally it.
