Miranda Lambert received the Merle Haggard Award and performed “Misery and Gin” at the 2016 ACM Honors. Watch below!

As Gossip Cop reported, this year’s 10th annual ACM Honors took place in Nashville last week. Held at the Ryman Auditorium, the star-studded event was filmed for broadcast on CBS. Now tonight, fans got to see the special presentation that paid tribute to both Lambert and Haggard.

“Misery and Gin,” of course, is the late Haggard’s 1980 classic. And in his memory, Lambert received the inaugural ACM Merle Haggard Spirit Award. According to the Academy of Country Music, the new honor was created to celebrate a “singer-songwriter and performer whose career reflects the uncompromising integrity and steadfastness of spirit embodied by the late Merle Haggard.”

“Beyond crafting iconic songs and delivering genuine performances, this deserving artist — like Haggard — is characterized by their singular vision in carving an indelible path in country music,” says the organization. Lambert was chosen as the first-ever recipient for her “uncompromising spirit.”

While it was a special night for Lambert, the evening sparked an untrue tabloid cover story. As Gossip Cop reported, OK! falsely claimed Lambert and Gwen Stefani had a “showdown” afterward, because Stefani supposedly became upset about Lambert talking with ex Blake Shelton at the ACM Honors. Shelton was on hand to perform a group tribute to Glenn Campbell.

Gossip Cop, however, confirmed that no such drama occurred. We’ll have full video of Lambert’s performance and award presentation shortly. Stay tuned!
