Lady Gaga is in ongoing talks to perform at the 2017 Super Bowl Halftime Show, Gossip Cop confirms. It is too early to tell, however, whether a deal will be made.

As Gossip Cop reported at the time, Gaga performed the National Anthem at Super Bowl 50 last year. She followed up that prime gig with high-profile performances at the Grammys and the Academy Awards. One could argue that doing the Super Bowl halftime show performance is the only big one she has yet to accomplish.

Now Gaga seems to be inching closer to that achievement. Tellingly, when Gossip Cop inquired about the speculation, the pop star’s rep sent us the same statement the NFL has released. It reads, “We have had conversations with several fantastic artists about the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show. However, at this point we do not have a final decision.”

That the NFL and Gaga’s own publicist are coordinating their responses to the inquiries is a strong indicator that the two camps are indeed working together right now. That said, discussions fall apart all the time and things can absolutely change. Should it work out, though, Gaga would follow in the footsteps of Coldplay (2016), Katy Perry (2015), Bruno Mars (2014), and Beyonce (2013).

As Gossip Cop reported, earlier this month Star ran a wrong story falsely claiming Taylor Swift was upset about Adele potentially doing the halftime performance. At this point, neither artist is involved, just as we said then.

Billboard was the first to break the Gaga news. Gossip Cop will have updates.
