Desiigner was arrested on Thursday for drug and gun possession. The arrest reportedly took place after an alleged road rage incident.
The rapper was in an SUV with other passengers in New York City when an argument apparently broke out with the driver of another vehicle. It’s not clear if Desiigner was behind the wheel, but the other driver alleges he pointed a gun in his or her direction. 911 was called, but he and the SUV left before cops arrived.
The driver, however, managed to take down the license plate number before Desiigner and his group took off. Police eventually located the SUV, and found drugs upon searching the car. According to TMZ, there was a “large quantity of loose pills in the center console,” some said to be Oxycontin. That led Desiigner and his four pals to be arrested for felony drug possession and intent to sell.
But in addition, Desiigner was also booked for felony possession of a loaded weapon, as well as menacing for allegedly pointing the gun at the driver. As of Friday morning, he and the others were still behind bars. Desiigner, who broke out this year with the song “Panda,” was in New York City earlier this week for New York Fashion Week, including Kanye West’s show on Wednesday. He performed at the Made In America Festival last weekend.
