Colin Powell was interrupted by a protester as he did a live interview on “CBS This Morning” on Monday. See video below.
Normally filmed in a New York City studio, this edition of the morning program took place in Washington, D.C. to celebrate the opening of the National Museum of African and Culture. A makeshift set was erected right outside, with anchors Gayle King, Charlie Rose, and Norah O’Donnell interviewing Powell about the center. During the chat, though, a man off-camera suddenly began screaming at the former Secretary of State.
All four turned to look at the guy, who yelled, “How do you go about, Colin Powell?! You know better, Colin Powell! You know better! As a black man in America! You dropped bombs on Iraq! That’s f*cked up!” O’Donnell tried to talk over the interruption, but the loud distraction made it impossible. Powell, however, took it in stride, jokingly asking the co-hosts, “Is he one of yours?”
A perturbed King responded, “He’s definitely not one of ours. But he’s coming up here to harass the show on live TV.” She continued to look off-camera as security was presumably handling the situation, while O’Donnell got the interview back on track.
Powell went on with the discussion seemingly unruffled by the verbal attack. Check out the clip below.
