Usain Bolt won the gold in the 200-meter final at the Rio Olympics on Thursday. He also once again made history, too. Check out the video below!
As Gossip Cop reported, Bolt competed in the 200-meter semifinal races on Wednesday. He placed first in his own race, as expected, and the most surprising result was that Team USA rival Justin Gatlin didn’t run fast enough to qualify for the final. But other threats advanced to the gold medal event, including America’s LaShawn Merritt and Bolt’s friend Andre De Grasse of Canada.
But Bolt, widely considered to be the fastest man in the world, claimed victory once again. And the accomplishment set a record, making the athlete the first in history to win the 200-meter race at three consecutive Olympics. The Jamaican superstar previously took home the gold in 2008 and 2012.
The sprinter also holds that three-peat record for the 100-meter event. As Gossip Cop reported, Bolt won gold in the 100-meter for the third consecutive time last Sunday. And his competition at the 2016 games isn’t over yet.
On Friday, Bolt will run in the 4×100-meter relay with three other athletes representing Jamaica. Gossip Cop will have full video of the 200-meter final momentarily, so stay tuned!
