The friendly Olympics rivalry between Ryan Lochte and Michael Phelps isn’t over, at least according to Lochte himself. Check out the video below!

As Gossip Cop reported, Phelps won gold in the men’s 200-meter individual medley at the Rio Olympics on Thursday, while Lochte surprisingly failed to medal. At the previous three summer games, Lochte had been right behind Phelps, taking silver or bronze. And with one or both of them retiring, it was believed last night’s race would be the last time the friends would go up against each other.

Not so fast, says Lochte. Appearing on the “Today” show on Friday morning, he insisted the 2020 Olympics is on the table. “You know what, I can definitely say that, because I guarantee he will be there,” Lochte said. “I think so. I really think so, so Michael I’ll see you in Tokyo.”

The swimmer acknowledged, though, “Going in day in and day out, just beating up your body, it takes a toll. Being at the age that I am right now, it’s definitely time that I need a break, but I can’t say it’s over.”

And no matter what happens, Lochte believes he and Phelps have a unique bond. “He brings the best out of me, and hopefully I can say the same to him,” said the athlete. “The rivalry that we’ve created and that friendship, I’m definitely going to cherish it for the rest of my life.” Check out full video of the interview below!
