As for the Emmy snubs? "I guess it was a slight bummer."

One of the most interesting things about Amazon comedy Mozart in the Jungle remains to be its surprising dominance during the 2016 Golden Globes.

The series, which has never had a surplus of visibility, walked away that night with the best comedy trophy and a best actor win for star Gael García Bernal.

"It was such a surprise to me," said actress Lola Kirke on Sunday morning, meeting with press in the same Beverly Hilton ballroom where the Globes annually take place. "I was barefoot, sitting at that table over there, and spent the next three hours doing press without shoes on."

Several of the actors credited the unexpected kudos with giving the show an awareness boost. "It brought more of a new audience to our show," noted Saffron Burrows. "It was a wonderful way to introduce it to a wider audience."

One thing it did not do was translate to any love from the Television Academy. Mozart in the Jungle netted zero Emmy nominations this year. The producers were asked how they feel about the snub.

"I think we were thrilled to get noticed at the Golden Globes," said executive producer Paul Weitz. "And it's probably something to aspire to, to one day get nominated for an Emmy... I'm fumbling, I guess it was a slight bummer. But not that much of one."
