Did Kim Kardashian undergo a hairline procedure to treat her supposedly thinning hair? A tabloid on Wednesday announced she has a “new hairline.” As silly as it may sound, Gossip Cop still looked into the claim.
“For years, Kim Kardashian has been hiding a secret: a thinning hairline,” write Life & Style. A so-called “insider” is quoted as saying, “Kim’s hair was a complete mess. She looked like she had a gorgeous mane on TV, but in real life it looked nothing like that.”
It’s said “years of extensions, tight hairstyles, and straightening had finally taken its toll.” And so, the outlet’s supposed source claims that in April, Kardashian went to a “famous Beverly Hills doctor who’s known for doing ‘corner pockets,’ filling in the missing chunks of hair on either side of her forehead.” Now she’s supposedly gone from having a “mangled mane” to looking “stunning.”
As proof, Life & Style cites a “celebrity plastic surgeon” who has never actually treated Kardashian. The doctor says, “Looking at Kim’s before and afters, you see a big improvement in the density and contour of the hairline.” He goes on to speculate, “It’s possible that Kim had FUE [follicular unit extraction] hair transplantation,” which the magazine explains is when hair is relocated “from the nape of the neck into thinning areas.”
The procedure is said to cost a whopping $20,000, and the “insider” describes Kardashian as “absolutely thrilled with the results.” The tipster adds, “Kim knows a huge part of her image is having luxurious black hair.” Right… that’s why Kardashian has gone platinum blonde, ombre, donned wigs, and changed her hairstyle countless other ways over the years.
What’s also misleading about this story is the photos that accompany it. For the “before” picture, the magazine chose a paparazzi snapshot of Kardashian from 2012, one in which she has her hair in a messy bun, a look that she threw together to run an errand. Of course she’s going to look different in the “after” picture that shows her in 2016 with her hair professionally styled for a glamorous event.
With these red flags, Gossip Cop looked into the claims… and our suspicions were confirmed. A rep for Kardashian exclusively tells us that the hairy allegations are “false.” Life & Style also seems to be oddly fixated on the star’s looks lately. Just last week, we busted the magazine for a falsely asserting her style preferences led Kardashian to feud with Caitlyn Jenner.
