Are Kathie Lee Gifford and Eric Stonestreet dating? A report claims the widowed star is now pursuing the actor. Gossip Cop looked into the story, and found out whether it’s real or just rumor.
“Lonely Kathie Lee Now Hot For ‘Modern Family,'” reads the headline of a piece in this week’s National Enquirer. It states, “Ageless ‘Today’ icon Kathie Lee Gifford — who lost husband Frank Gifford a year ago — suddenly’s got hot-to-trots… for A GAY GUY!” That’s actually a bad joke, referring to Stonestreet’s “Modern Family” character.
But the story goes on to quote a “spy” in totally unnatural language, “Kathie Lee’s gone NUTS for a super-straight, sexy stud who PLAYS gay on TV — ‘Modern Family’ star Eric Stonestreet! Chatty Kathie’s languished as a widow, but now wants to get her groove back — admitting to Hoda [Kotb] and pals that Eric’s got the chops to re-light her fire!”
“She swooned over a sassy flirt session when he guested on ‘Today,’ finds him sexy, smart and funny — and he’s dated beauties Charlize Theron and Bethenny Frankel,” continues the supposed source. The outlet’s alleged tipster adds, however, “One buzz-kill — just as KLG was ready to slip Eric her private number, she heard he has a new girlfriend — but swears she won’t give up!”
Well, it’s long past time the National Enquirer gave up. Gossip Cop busted the Theron dating claim all the way back in 2012, and Frankel herself debunked that dating allegation last year. Now Stonestreet is once again being wrongly linked to a female star.
Gifford is not trying to date the “Modern Family” actor. A rep exclusively tells Gossip Cop the story is “nonsense.” Of course, that ridiculous “spy” quote cited above was pretty much a dead give-away that this tale was a fabricated rumor.
